NEW and EXPERIMENTAL

In contemporary nomenclature something that is experimental is of the empirical tradition. It involves the observation of an object (the dependent variable) before during and after the manipulation of another object (the independent variable) compared to a control group where there is no manipulation of the independent variable. the differences between states and groups is compared and inferences are made. The definition of new is having occurred recently in time relative to context.

I am a little stunned because my AuralDynamics exhibition - which is comparative anatomy studies of ears as experiments of differences in acoustic architecture and preliminary research into experiments in Sound Design - was rejected by Firstdraft gallery on the grounds that it wasn't "new or experimental"
